Like most office stationery products, rubber stamps can be handled by many different people throughout the day.  Multiple handling can present a risk in terms of cross-contamination of bacteria such as E. coli, S. aureus, MRSA and Salmonella.

As you can see, on an unprotected surface bacteria multiplies significantly over a period of 24 hours, whereas a protected surface sees a decrease in bacteria, meaning that the risk of cross-contamination is significantly reduced.
